After Having Sampled a Ford Fiesta R5, Donagh Kelly said:
“She’s Quick – i would love to take her for a longer spin though“
Donagh was the 2015 Triton Showers and Clonakilty Blackpudding Double Champion, and he Steps out this weekend in a Ford Fiesta R5, a car he has had very limited test time in.
Added to the pressure of not being used to the car, its been a few years since Donagh was Let loose on the Gravel surface of the forests, PLUS Donagh (and Conor Foley) have had NO recce of the 6 tricky forest stages.
The forests this time, being in Cumbria, in the North Of England, The Grizedale Stages Rally, and Donagh’s reputation has earned him a 5th place seeding.
“She’s NO Ford Focus WRC – but she’s quick – VERY QUICK !! – and with NO Recce, it’s going to be a learning curve all the way to the finish line, both the new car, and for myself – I’m going to have to totally focus my concentration on the notes –
The Entry in Cumbria is a who’s who of British Rallying, with the likes of Steve Petch, David Wright, and Hugh Hunter, who have competed in Grizedale for years – that’s my benchmark – and I’ll have to keep up with those guys if I am to take anything out of this rally”
When pressed about his plans for 2017 Donagh told McC Rally Reports:
“I’d love to take a 4th win in West Cork, or a hat-trick of wins in Kerry, but i also am sentimental, and i would LOVE to lift the winners trophy in Donegal too – maybe an odd National round, but right now, its Grizedale, and i’m not looking any further“
