The MJM Group Dogleap Tarmac Stages Rally was Officially Launched in The Roe Valley Centre, Limavady on Wednesday 27th July.
A Number Of Sponsors, Organisers, and Charities, Including the Ballykelly Community and Youth Association, the Nominated Charity Of the event, were present.
The Rally is set to take place on Saturday 6th August at Shackelton, Ballykelly.
This Years event organised by Maiden City Motor Club is set to thrill rally fans from far and wide and boost tourism to the area by providing a truly action packed day !!
Clerk of the course, Danny Gormley, commented:
“I am really looking forward to the rally and i am very confident that the team will put on a great event. It is particularly pleasing that the MJM Group, who are the new owners of the shackelton complex, have come on board to support the rally, not least by providing FULL access for the rally stages.
The roads within the complex are ideal for rallying and this event has been very sucesful over the past number of years. We intent to stick to the same format, which proved so popular with the competitors last year. There will be six stages totalling 36 stage miles. We have an excellent entry comprising a good mix of WRC, S2000, and clubman cars. The Competition is ALWAYS intense and last year the rally finished in a dead heat. I am looking forward to once again seeing these two drivers, Alan McGeehan, and the winner last year, Joe McGonigle in his Skoda S2000. There are others who are in the line up who have their sights set on the win”
“I am also very happy that our nominated charity is once again, the Ballykelly Community and Youth Association. Both the MJM Group and the Maiden City Motor Club are very keen to support communities and i am delighted that we are able to assist the valuable service this group provides in the Ballykelly Area”
The Deputy Mayor of The Causeway Coast and Glens Council, Councillor James McCorkell, was also present at the launch and very much welcomed the return of the rally after the major success of previous years.
The 1st Car will be flagged away at 10amand the final stage will be completed by 4.30pm.
The organisers have provided safe and accessible spectator areas which offer spectacular viewing of ALL the rally action.
Those of you who are HARDENED rally fans will be excited at the news that the 2016 Joule Donegal International Rally Winner Manus Kelly has Confirmed his Entry, but is striking a deal for a car at present.
